Creative Inclusion
For me, inclusion is not an afterthought, it should be at the foundation. In this, I believe the work of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) does not have to be called DEI for it… for you… for us… to be recognized. The work can be creatively adapted into our spaces, conversations, products, and so on. (But YES, DEI is still important)
As a DEI practitioner in the everyday, I educate folx on base level understandings of the history of creating inclusive spaces, on how to engage with others who may be different than yourself, and how to navigate your with your experiences and narratives not without them.
Curating spaces where everyone’s stories belong!
What is a Creative Inclusion Consultant?
A Creative Inclusion Consultant helps individuals and organizations design inclusive, story-driven experiences that honor diverse identities and human connection. By blending creativity, education, and strategy, I transform inclusion from a policy into a practice, and from a practice into culture.
The Merger
For the past few years, I have worked in the DEI field building communities and simply teaching others how to be kinder to themselves and in turn to their peers. After deep reflection and guidance from close friends I found that the other doses of my life actually reflect the same work! Noticing these intersections I began to call this area of self exploration The Merger.
“The Merger” explores connecting all my passions and pillars together to find the bridges and intersections that spark joy in my life. The pillars are contained within the titles of Creative Inclusion, Visual Storytelling, Healing & Identity, and Products with Purpose.
Creative Inclusion acts as an overhead and includes all of the others within it. However, it does have a main focus on the career front of my life where I center my work as a DEI practitioner.
How they are connected:
-
Collects the visual representations of how I show up in the world but also reflects how I promote stories of others doing similar work.
-
My work was born out of self discovery. Leading me down paths of reconnection of either my cultural identity, or even my self confidence.
-
I create in reflection of the things I learn or how I feel. From words of affirmations and inclusive thoughts written across a garment, to creating handmade scrunchies that helped me re-envision my beauty from head to toe the merch I curate are crafted with the intention of creatively seeing things differently in the everyday.
